A 2/2/3 custody schedule is a form of a parenting plan for parents who are separating and have a 50/50 physical custody of the children which spells out how they will share the time and the parenting responsibilities. In the 2/2/3 custody schedule, during the week the child stays with one parent for 2 days, then goes to the other parent for the following 2 days; and then for the next 3 day weekend the child goes back to the parent he/she spent the first two days of the week. This 3 day weekend alternates from one parent to the other. The benefit of this schedule is that it is very simple and easy to understand and follow and the child is able to spend time with both parents each week.
Although the child changes home more in a 2/2/3 schedule as compare to a 2/2/5/5 schedule, this custody schedule is better for the child because some children, especially younger ones, are unable to handle the 5 day separation in the 2/2/5/5 custody schedule since the 5 day separation is simply too long for a child.
